Lois Jarvis, age 89, formerly of Aurora and more recently Sugar Grove, passed away peacefully May 26, 2012 at Hillside Rehab & Care Center in Yorkville, IL. She was born November 2, 1922 in St. Charles, the daughter of Carl and Emelia (Andreasson) Gustafson. Lois grew up in St. Charles and graduated from St. Charles Community High School on June 7, 1940. During the war she worked at Howard Aircraft Corporation in St. Charles. Lois married her soul mate, Bill Jarvis, on October 23, 1944, and they were married for 65 years until Bill’s death on December 2, 2009. Lois and Bill lived in Aurora from 1946 to 1988. In 1988 they moved to Sugar Grove. Lois stayed home and raised their girls. She only worked part-time at Trio Brass Foundry in Aurora as a secretary/bookkeeper while her girls were in school, and then continued working at Trio Brass until her retirement in 1988. Lois was an avid reader and enjoyed stamp collecting, bird watching, and word puzzles. Lois and Bill enjoyed camping. Their favorite campground was Devil’s Lake in Baraboo, WI. Lois was a member of St. Gall Catholic Church. Lois now leaves her daughters, Kay Chawgo of Breese, IL, Linda (Dave) Dugan of Leland, IL and Sandy (Daryl) Jones of Steward, IL; her grandchildren, Becky Chawgo of Lynnwood, WA, Jeremy Chawgo (Monica Jeffers) of Breese, IL, Josh (Anne) Thacker and their daughter, Isabel, of Montgomery, IL, Adam Thacker (Luana Figueroa and Jacob), of Yorkville, IL, Jason (Kim) Jones and their children, Halle, Quinn, and Macie, of Yorkville, IL, and Kristy (Chadd) Nelson and their daughters, Sophia and Olivia, of Sugar Grove, IL; her sister-in-law Elnor Gustafson, of St. Charles, IL; her brother-in-law John Jarvis, of Aurora, IL; and many nieces and nephews. She now joins her husband Bill, her parents, her son-in-law Vince Chawgo (April 15, 2011), her brothers Carl and Everett, and her sister June Petersen. Visitation will be from 4-6:30pm, Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn. A service to celebrate her life will follow visitation at 7pm. Private family interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name to benefit Hillside Rehab & Care Center and Seasons Hospice. Checks may be made payable to the "Lois Jarvis Memorial" and mailed in care of the Jarvis family to P.O. Box 66, Elburn, IL 60119.
