Lorena Darlene Repp, age 80, of Elburn, IL passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and prayers of her family at her home on Tuesday, June 5, 2012. BORN: She was born January 23, 1932 in St Joseph County, MO, the daughter of William and Clara (Gibbons) Davison. EARLY YEARS:As the daughter of a Pastor the family moved quite a bit and regardless of where, she assisted her father with his ministry. She would attend local schools wherever the family settled for the time being.MARRIAGE: Lorena met the love of her life Robert Eugene Repp at a local dance in 1946. Robert returned to Iowa because he missed his girl and before long it was May 15, 1948 and they began their life together. RESIDENTIAL HISTORY: Lorena and Robert moved to different places around the area, but always called Elburn Home. OCCUPATION / WORK HISTORY:Lorena worked a number of different jobs throughout her life. She worked the night shift for Dyna Color in Aurora and Red Lion in Elgin as a waitress. When Robert took on a custodial position with the Community Congregational Church in Elburn, she shortly joined him. She would say she wanted to make sure he was "doing it right." Although she enjoyed her work with all of these organizations, she loved nothing more than to stay home and take care of her family. MEMBERSHIPS: She was a faithful member of the Community Congregational Church of Elburn for many years. She also served as a leader for the Campfire Girls. LIFE NOTES: Lorena was one who always loved to extend a helping hand and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. You could also find her visiting the elderly in the local area. Lorena enjoyed spending endless hours in her flower garden, tending to it daily. As a provider for her family, she would make clothing for her children, matching dresses for the girls and shirts, blue jeans, and suits for the boys. Her daughters all had wedding dresses made for them by hand. Every fall season she would can and freeze the vegetables that Robert grew. When her children grew up, she passed on her knowledge and taught them all how to cook and sew. Lorena was also her children’s "protector." Lorena also passed on her love and devotion to her Church. She made sure that every Sunday her children made it to Sunday school. Pierce St. Elburn. A funeral service celebrating Lorena’s life will follow at 4:00p.m. Rev. Michelle Prentice-Leslie, pastor of Community Congregational Church of Elburn, will officiate.
