Date of Death

Mar 30,2019

Lorraine M. Kinney, age 90, of Sugar Grove, IL, claimed the promise of her Savior, Saturday, March 30, 2019, at her home, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family.
She was born August 7, 1928, in St. Charles, to proud parents, Emil and Sidonie Collins.
Lorraine grew up in St. Charles and attended local schools. She graduated from St. Charles High School with the class of 1947.
Lorraine was biking one afternoon and happened upon some hired men on a local farm. Kahl Kinney spied her while baling hay and decided right then and there that they would go out on a date. His vision came true and more when they eventually married on January 29, 1949. They made their home on the Fisher farm, where they welcomed a son David, that same year. In 1953, their family became complete with the arrival of Daniel. They continued to farm in the surrounding areas until a farming accident brought them to Sugar Grove in 1987.
After graduation, Lorraine began working at Burgess Norton in Geneva, but became the quintessential hard working farm wife. She worked just as hard and long as Kahl, and proved the saying, “Those that work together, stay together.” Their bond was as strong as bedrock and the memories they made lasted just as long.
Lorraine was a member of St. Gall Catholic Church in Elburn.
Lorraine carried milk, drove the tractor, swept feed to the cows, and basically lived up to the term, “Girl Friday” for Kahl. Anything he needed, anytime he needed it, Lorraine was there. Sun up to sundown, she cared for her land, her husband and her sons. Even in retirement, she made sure her family was never in need of anything.
She is survived by two sons; David Kahl (Brenda) Kinney, Sr., Daniel Edward (Wendy) Kinney; six grandchildren; David K. Kinney, Jr., John E. Kinney, Susan A. Kinney, Timothy E. (Jennifer) Kinney, Matthew E. (Amanda) Kinney and Laura (Brian) Roach; nine great-grandchildren; Gabrielle Bogolin, Grayson Kinney, Ava Kinney, Kate Kinney, Emma Kinney, Theodore Kinney, Beatrix Kinney and Allie and Emmie Roach; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a countryside of friends.
She is preceded in death by parents, Emil and Sidonie Collins, her husband Kahl Kinney; four brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday, April 5, 2019 at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL. A prayer service will follow at 7 p.m. with interment to begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Kaneville Cemetery, Kaneville, IL.
