Majora M. Alfredson, Age 97 of Big Rock, IL, passed away peacefully at the Rosewood Care Center, St. Charles where she had been a resident in recent years. BORN / EARLY YEARSShe was born March 6, 1910 in Sandwich, IL the daughter of George W. and Mary E. (Winslow) Keeler. Majora grew up in Sandwich where she attended local schools and graduated from Sandwich High School with the class of 1928. Following high school she began working as a secretary at the Pioneer Products Company in Plano. MARRIAGE & FAMILYOn October 4, 1932, she was united in marriage to Harold Alfredson in Aurora. For the next ten years, they made their home on the Alfredson family farm in Sugar Grove where Harold farmed with his father until he and Majora were able to farm on their own. For some thirty nine years they shared the joys, the toil and the hard times of farming together. When it came to cooking for the harvest help, she was known for a great meal and her "imaginative cooking". She also enjoyed all types of hand-crafts from latch-hook rugs to corn husk and apple dolls. Majora was past president of the Kane County Home Extentsion and secretary of the Kane County Fair Board. She also served on the 4-H Center Board and the Kane County 4-H Committee. She was also a long time member of the English Congregational Church, Big Rock and was the oldest living member of the church. She was also a member of the 708 Mental Health Board and the Election Board. Visitation will be held at the English Congregational Church, Big Rock, Thursday, January 10, 2008 from 11am to 1pm. Her funeral service will follow at 1:30 pm with the Rev. Byron Henn officiating.

Interment will conclude at West Big Rock Cemetery
