NAME Margaret "Marge" Katherine Lipscomb,(nee Lau), age 87 passed away at Delnor Hospital on Thursday, August 6, 2009.BORN: Marge was born on November 1, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois. A few years later, her parents, Max and Katherine Lau moved to Lisle Illinois where Marge and her sister Dorothy grew up.EARLY YEARS:The family owned and operated the Tree Gables restaurant on Ogden Avenue in Lisle. It was while working at the restaurant many years later that Marge met her future husband, Harold Lipscomb. They married in 1940 and moved to Naperville where they began their family. In 1960 they followed their dream and moved "west". They bought a 23 acre farmette outside of Elburn Illinois. Here they had many fun times trying their hand at country living including gardening, raising horses, and taking their great grandchildren down to watch the trains behind their property. The name grandma and grandpa "choo choo" was soon born and they remained their nicknames. Marge and Harold traveled extensively, especially out west to Wyoming and Montana, and had many stories to tell of their adventures that spanned over 4 decades. In the 1980’s they moved to Bull Shoals Arkansas to try their hand at retirement. They fished in the White River and enjoyed having their children and their grandchildren come down and join them. Marge would fry up the daily catch of trout and then it was off to explore all the little antique stores in the area or off to meet her friends for bingo.Marge loved to sew, knit, crochet and avidly shared her talents with those she loved. When her granddaughter Jennifer got married, she took Jenni’s Barbie dolls and made duplicate wedding and bridesmaid dresses and made a centerpiece at the reception for all to enjoy. Marge loved her family and was very involved in their lives, always attending school and family functions. She was always ready to go anywhere they were going.Marge was a very bright and witty lady and had an especially keen sense of humor. She would find humor in most things she did. After they returned from Arkansas, one of her favorite social pastimes in retirement was when she and Harold would join the "Burger King Senior group" every morning for coffee. Some of those friends were still visiting her at the hospital in her last days. Marge now leaves her son, John Lipscomb her daughter, Sandy Gould, her grandson Jeff Gould and his wife Sandy, their children, Abby, Caleb and Seth , her granddaughter Jennifer Siebert and children Alex, Ryan and Kristen, her grand daughter-in-law, Dawn Gould ,her brother-in-law Ralph Lipscomb, many nieces and nephews and her dear remaining friends.Marge now joins her husband, Harold, her parents and sister, and her beloved grandson and traveling buddy, Jason Gould, and her favorite dog, Lokoni.
