Marna L. NorrisAge 85 of Sugar Grove, passed away at the Provena Geneva Care Center, Geneva, IL after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. BORN / EARLY YEARSShe was born June 21, 1922 in Good Hope, IL where she would one day return as a teacher. Following graduation from Good Hope High School she attended the University of Illinois where she met Don Norris. With the outbreak of WWII, Don and Marna were married in Brownwood, TX on February 13, 1943, shortly before Don went over seas. Marna returned to Illinois to make her home with his parents on the family homestead, Spring Bluff Farm near Sugar Grove. They would soon discover that Marna was pregnant with their first daughter, Mary and Marna’s amazing life as wife, mother, farmer and community volunteer – began. When Don returned, he and Marna began in earnest to build the farm and raise a family. Years later they would joke about having agreed to have five children but neither of them realized it would become "five apiece". From WWII to Woodstock, Marna raised children across three decades, all while managing the farm with Don and she herself, building a large wholesale/retail egg business. An avid gardener too, she raised, canned and froze an amazing harvest of fruits and vegetables for her family. Even then, Marna found time to volunteer as an active member of the Sugar Grove American Legion Post #1278, to be involved at St. Gall Church, Elburn and the Altar and Rosary Society, the Kane County Extension, 4-H and be scout leader as well. She sewed much of her children’s clothing and taught her daughters to sew and her sons, not to fight with each other!SURVIVORS 4 daughtersMary (Michael) Davis of Monticello, WIJanet (John) Andrzejewski of Herscher, IL, Shirley (Robert) Pauer of Dahinda, ILRebecca (Terry) Beck-Ryan of DeKalb, IL5 sons:Charles (Sue) Norris of Denver, CO, Matthew (Betty) Norris of Birchwood, WITimothy (Susan) Norris of Sugar Grove, ILKenneth (Doris) Norris of Sugar Grove, ILBenjamin (MaryBeth) Norris of Western Springs, ILGrandchildren Mary’s: Jeff DavisGreg DavisKevin DavisJanet’s:AdamElizabethAbramMaryNellCharityKatieCharles’:AaronMeghannShirley’sAmyJayBecky’sChristopherEricRyanTim’s:CarrieHenryKen’sMatthew OlsonBen’sJohnSamuel 21 Great Grandchildren, with four more "Spring lambs" expected.
