Melodee M. Snow, age 63, of Leesburg, FL, formerly of Geneva and Elburn, IL passed away peacefully on April 29, 2020, surrounded by the love and prayers of her close family.

Melodee was born June 16, 1956, in Geneva, IL., to proud parents Paul and Martha Morris. She grew up in Geneva, IL in a music family. Both her parents were involved in the Geneva Lutheran Church and her father was a local band director so it was only fitting that Melodee gained her name and learned to play the clarinet and continued that through high school along with being in the pom pom squad. Mel enjoyed spending summers in Lake Geneva with the family and friends at Camp Augustana.

Mel worked for Colonial restaurants throughout the years as a waitress, manager, and director opening many new locations. Then, in 1995, Mel opened Mel’s Diner in Geneva, IL located on the corner of Route 38 & 7th St.. Mel’s Diner was known best for its breakfast and lunch and as the place for the daily coffee club. Mel loved being at the restaurant and talking to all the customers and making everyone feel welcome.

Mel loved to spend time with her family. She would do anything she could to help her boys and their wives. Melodee would tell everyone she knew all about her three boys and her four grandsons. Needless to say she was a proud Mom but most of all, a very proud Grandma. She was always one to have us over for Sunday dinner before she moved to Florida. She enjoyed watching her grandsons Brody, Bentley, Kaden and Lincoln, while their parents were at work or needed a night out. Her grandsons meant the world to her. She loved to take them out to lunch or ice cream as well as spoil them, like only a grandma could! When she would visit from Florida her grandsons couldn’t wait for what surprises Grandma would have for them. Her grandsons will forever cherish the many memories they got to share with Grandma Melodee. She loved her weekly Facetime calls with us all, but she really couldn’t wait to have her time with each of her grandsons. When we visited her in Florida, she loved to take us out to The Donut King, for ice cream, to Disney Springs, and to the beach. She Loved the beach! Family was Melodee’s world.

Mel always enjoyed vacations in Florida and going on cruises. In 2017, Mel became a permanent resident of Leesburg, FL. She met many new friends in the Royal Highlands subdivision while volunteering at the recreation center, and most recently became vice-president of the Midwest Club. However, she really enjoyed family and friends from Illinois coming to visit and taking them to the many attractions near her.

She was always smiling. Even through the hard times, she always found a way to crack a smile. There were times the boys would really get her laughing; she’d forget to breath, then the coughing would start, then came the sneezing and crying. She was full of life when she was around her family. Mel loved palm trees and tropical things so much, she had a whole wall painted with monkeys and palm trees. All of us thought she was crazy until she moved to a warm tropical place. Then we really knew that’s where she really wanted to be. From cruise ships to boats, she loved the water. We can only imagine how she really felt on the latest cruise she went on in February.

Mel is survived by three children: Jason (Monica) Snow, Bradley (Candace) Snow, and Charlie Snow; four grandchildren Brody and Kaden Snow, and Bentley and Lincoln Snow; her brothers, David (Sheila) Morris and Philip (Eleanor) Morris; nephew Eric (Codi) AuCoin and her two cats Sammy and Dexter.

She is preceded in death by her parents Paul and Martha Morris.
