Michael Masynk, 59 passed away peacefully at home on October 17, 2013. A memorial serice will be held at St. Gall Catholic Church on Thursday, October 24, 2013.Michael was born in Chicago on September 30, 1954 and remained in the Chicago area throughout his life. It is where he met the love of his life Joyce and they were married on April 16, 1977. They were blessed with two children, Stacy and Steve and greatly enjoyed being a family. He was an active father who was very supportive of his children, coaching soccer and baseball, attending dance recitals, taking tae-kwon-do with his son and participating in a father-daughter YMCA program. Mike was also a devoted husband who spent time with his wife golfing, bike riding, making each other laugh and never failing to tell her and show her how much he loved her every day.Mike had a successful career as a mold maker and always provided for his family. His greatest joy was spending time at the cabin he and Joyce built in Wisconsin. Mike loved getting up early there to fish and watch the sunrise over the lake, snowmobile in the winter, have some B&B by the campfire, thwart squirrels from eating the bird food and mostly just spending quality time with his family. Mike was gifted with his hands and built many wood projects in his shop including an amazing basement bar, beautiful hope chest for his daughter, desk for his son and creative bird houses. He had recently taken up home beer brewing with his son and they had a lot of fun making a mess in the kitchen, to Joyce\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’s amusement and brewing many varieties together. Mike was also able to give his daughter away in marriage. He really enjoyed going to the gym in the mornings where he had a great group of friends.Mike had a great heart, he had a way of talking to people that put them at ease and was always there to lend a hand. He was the best father and husband anyone could ask for. He will be greatly missed.He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Masnyk.Mike is survived by his wife, Joyce: daughter Stacy and her husband PJ; son Steve; mother, Joan; brother Wally; Doug the dog and many caring friends and family.A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday October 24, 2013 at St. Gall Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. A visitation will procede the service from 9:00-10:00.
