Michael "Jay" McCarneyAge 30 of North Aurora, formerly of Kaneville, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, August 6, 2007.He was born May 13, 1977 in Geneva, IL, the son of Michael P. and Gail (Rapp) McCarney. Michael grew up in the Kaneville area where he attended Kaneland Schools. Studying auto mechanics at the Mid Valley Career Center, he graduated from Kaneland with the class of 1996.He worked for a time at Oil Works in Batavia. Over the next several years, he tried a variety of trades including: Direct TV Installation, a blacktop paving company, a tree trimming service and two towing companies, Auto Connection and F3-Solutions, Naperville as well as Halogen Lighting service, and others. Through them all, his hands were his "gift" and also his keys to learning. He was quiet yet always had a story to tell; the kind that became a joke on you and made you laugh anyway. Always willing to lend a hand, many knew the helpful side of Michael. MARRIAGE & FAMILYOn February 15, 2000, he was united in marriage to Denise Bonya. They made their home in Hinckley at first and then in Kaneville with his grandma Rapp. Following her death in 2006, they moved to North Aurora. Michael and Denise were blessed with three daughters, Haley (7), Cheyanne (5) and Chloe (2) were the light of Michael’s life. Their pictures were on his cell phone and their names were the first words out of his mouth when friends asked, "how’s it going…" His daughters hung on him like monkeys and adored his playful teasing. Like many young families, the struggle to make ends meet, made long days, short nights and sometimes, short tempers. As frustration multiplied, Michael’s heart and mind divided. Gradually, the man who could always brighten your day, lost sight of the sunshine in his own life. The encouraging words of others seemed to fall on deaf ears and Michael slipped into depression. Like a cancer, depression grew invisibly and silently inside of him until sometime between Sunday afternoon and Monday evening, August 6, when Michael decided to end his pain by ending his life. Tragically, he could not see how many other wonderful things would end as well. In spite of all that they have lost, his loved ones hold fast to his memory. Determined to capture all the gifts of his thirty years, they invite those who knew and loved Michael to share in a celebration of his life Friday evening.
