NAME Ozie "Terry" P. Brown,age 84, passed away Sunday, August 2, at her home in Elburn. BORN: She was born October 13, 1924, the daughter of Jesse and Edith (Shepard) Parish in Blountstown, FL. Two years later the family moved to Sarasota where Terry attended local schools. MARRIAGE Terry met her husband and the love of her life while working at a drug store soda fountain in Sarasota. Tony Brown was stationed in Sarasota and they dated for two months before he was shipped overseas. They corresponded for two years and got married the day after his return to civilian life on August 14, 1944. RESIDENTIAL HISTORY: They made their home in Sarasota for a time before a number of transfers took Tony, Terry and a growing family to El Paso, TX, Rochester, NY, Villa Park, IL, Gary, IN. His last transfer brought them to St. Charles, IL, in 1956. Terry and Tony then split time between Illinois and Florida until Tony’s passing in 1990. She then moved to Sturgis, MI for a time before finally making her home at the Meadows Apartments in Elburn for the past two years. OCCUPATION / WORK HISTORY Terry worked in several grocery stores over the years. She also worked in the dietary departments of Community Hospital, Geneva, IL and Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Sarasota, FL where she retired in 1989. LIFE NOTES Terry loved to crochet, knit and sew outfits, baby sweaters, afghans and beautiful dolls for her family. She was an avid football fan and her cheers for the Chicago Bears AND the Tampa Bay Buccaneers still echo in the halls of memory. She made the best fried chicken in the history of the world and had an endless supply of chocolate for all of her visitors whenever they needed a chocolate fix. Terry loved her "babies" which included her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchild. She loved to play bingo and had so many friends to look after her it was her like her "family" away from her family. Terry made friends wherever she lived and now leaves a legacy of love and memories that stretch across many generations and across the nation. SURVIVORS She now leaves one daughter:Linda (Keith) Farrell of Elburn and Four grandsons: Tony (Michelle) Rouse, of St. Charles, IL, Michael Rouse of DeKalb, IL, Justin Webb and Matthew Powell, both of Sturgis, MI; Two granddaughters: Kimberly (Bill) Zwiers of Elburn, IL, and Colleen Farrell of Aurora, IL;Thirteen great-grandchildren: Madelyn, Jack and Kate Rouse of St. Charles, IL,Shelbie, AJ and Jaden Rouse of DeKalb, IL, Jordan Webb of Bernie, MO, Faith and Breanna Webb of Sturgis, MI, Zack Powell of Sturgis, MI, Lilly Zwiers of Elburn, IL and Jackie and Breanna Farrell of Aurora, IL;One great-great-grandson, Aidyn Farrell of Aurora, Illinois;One sister Doris Courson of Sarasota, FL;Many nieces and nephews;Special friends Lorraine "Mimi" Larson, Lu Modaff, Jamie and Peaches Estes, Tom Armesy, and many dear friends at the Meadows Apartments.PRECEDED She now joins her parents, husband Tony, daughter Laura Mead, sisters Tessie Parish and Bernadine Scott, and brother Edgar Parish who preceded her in death.VISITATION / FUNERAL A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 320 Franklin St., Geneva, IL, Saturday, August 8, 2009.MEMORIAL A memorial has been established in her name.
