PATRICIA "Pat" ANN NORWOOD, age 66, of Sugar Grove, formerly of Aurora, passed away in the early morning hours following a long courageous battle with COPD on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family.BORN: She was born February 19, 1945 in Ripley, Mississippi. EARLY YEARS:Although born in the south, Pat grew up in Illinois around the Peoria area where she attended local schools. MARRIAGE: She was united in marriage to William "Bill" Duffy in 1962. RESIDENTIAL HISTORY: They made their home in Oglesby, IL for a time but moved often because of Bill’s job. They welcomed three children by the time they settled in Aurora 1967. After Bill’s passing, Pat found love again when she met Luke Norwood in 1991. What began as friendship, turned into something deeper and eventually they were married in October of 1998. They bought a home in Sugar Grove and together they filled it with love and memories. OCCUPATION / WORK HISTORY:Pat began working at Kinney Shoes for over ten years before doing office work for Allis Chalmers for a time. Later she began a twenty year career with WPC before her retirement in 2006.LIFE NOTES: Pat was a woman with a kind and generous heart who gave to all in need. She loved to spend time in her garden bringing the colors of the rainbow to life. Pat liked to bring home different varieties of flowers home to include them into her menagerie. Her vegetables graced the table at meal time and were paired perfectly with each dish. She enjoyed the company of friends, most often playing cards and other games when they gathered at local clubs. She and Luke liked to travel to locally Wisconsin and Michigan but her love of country music brought them to Branson MO. The sweet warm sunshine of the southwest called her every winter when she lived in Phoenix AZ until the snow melted in the spring. Most of all she lived for the time with family, especially her children and grandchildren who will never forget her. SURVIVORS: She is survived by her husband Luke, Three children:Ginger Angell, Bill "Buster" (Deanna) Duffy and Debbie (Dave) Cadie;Seven grandchildren:Nick, Michael, Chris, Jamie, Ashley, Alex and Brian;One sister, Nell Crew;One brother, Tom (Lynn) Lewis and Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; PRECEDED:She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother Art, and one brother-in-law, Warren Crew. VISITATION / FUNERAL Visitation will be from 4-5:30 p.m. with a service to celebrate her life to follow at 6 p.m., Friday, September 30, 2011, at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL 60119. Private family interment will follow cremation at a later date. MEMORIAL In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name to benefit her favorite charities. Checks may be made to the "Pat Norwood Memorial" and mailed in care of P.O. Visitation will be from 4-5:30 p.m. with a service to celebrate her life to follow at 6 p.m., Friday, September 30, 2011, at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL 60119.
