PAULA MAE TEER, age 66, of Elburn, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, October 25, at her home, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family following a lengthy battle with COPD. BORN: She was born June 7, 1945, in Bricesville, TN, the daughter of Paul and Jessie (Huckaby) Rutherford. EARLY YEARS : Although born in Bricesville, Paula grew up on 22nd and Hoyne Avenue in Chicago, IL. She attended local schools and lived above a local grocery. Unbeknownst to her, her future husband worked beneath her for five years. Fred Teer didn’t know about her either but it soon became clear after meeting her that everything was about to change. MARRIAGE Though both were young, their love wouldn’t be denied as they were united in marriage on December 31, 1963 in Waukegan, IL. OCCUPATION / WORK HISTORY They began their new life together in Chicago for a time and welcomed a son Fred Jr. before moving to Elgin, IL in 1965. They bought their first house in Carpentersville and made 20 years of memories before moving to Indianapolis, IN. They came home to Illinois and settled in Elburn in 1991 where they have since made their home. LIFE NOTES Paula loved to bowl for many years at the Elgin Bowl. She had a special place in her heart for all kinds of animals, but she was especially drawn to dogs, cats, and birds. They returned that unconditional love so that she was never without a companion. She also had a great sense of humor that always brought a smile but jaws dropped when she and Fred took over the dance floor. Paula had joy in her heart, enjoyed life to the fullest and never met an enemy-everyone she met left as a friend. She loved to travel and often followed her son’s open wheel racing where ever it took her, but her trip to England was one of the highlights of her life.
