RALPH N. "Roxy" / "Scotty" SCOTT, age 75 of Sugar Grove, IL, passed away Monday evening, November 14, 2005, at Mercy Center Hospital, Aurora, after a sudden illness. He was born September 7, 1930, in Aurora, IL, the son of Ralph E. and Esther (Nelson) Scott. He grew up in rural Sugar Grove where he attended Grouse Corners Country School and graduated from Sugar Grove High School. Following high school, he worked at the Elburn Packing Company until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1951, during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany until he was Honorably Discharged in 1953, and returned home to Sugar Grove and his job in Elburn. In 1957, Ralph met Doreen Dows, at the Admiral Corporation, where he was working and where she was seeking employment. The chance encounter grew into a lifetime together when they were united in marriage on August 30, 1959, at the Geneva United Methodist Church. They made their first home in Sugar Grove in the same house where they have lived throughout their 46 years of marriage. In the early years, Ralph worked in the produce department of Eagle’s Foods for over thirty years. For the last fourteen years, he has worked at Thompson’s Auto in Batavia where he not only enjoyed his work, but found a "new family".Ralph was a man of integrity; honest to a fault, hardworking and dedicated. He was always there for those he loved, a "life-preserver" in times of trouble, an amazing provider and a wonderful listener. He was a devoted grandfather who always had a place for his grandsons to ride their 4-wheelers, even at the expense of grandpa’s lawn. They will treasure the memory of his watchful eye and will hold dear the memories of ice cream in a "garage fort". Ralph made countless friends throughout the area and loved the "beautiful Fox River Valley", saying he would never leave it.He is survived by his wife, Doreen, of Sugar Grove; and two sons, Randy (Karen) Scott of St. Charles, IL and Brad Scott of Chicago, IL; three grandsons: Andrew, Ryan and Jacob Scott, all of St. Charles; one sister, Rena (Paul) Brown of Bristol, IL; three nephews and a lifetime of friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.Friends may call at memorial visitation hours, Friday, November 18, 2005 from 4-8pm at Conley Funeral Home 116 W.
