NAME Randy William. Stayner,Age 50, of Sugar Grove, passed away at Rush-Copley Hospital in Aurora, IL, Wednesday, February 17, 2010 following a battle with cancer and liver disease. BORN: He was born November 28, 1959, the son of Vance A. and Sharon F. (Evans) Stayner in Oak Park, IL. EARLY YEARS:Randy grew up in Wauconda for a time and attended local schools before his family moved to Sugar Grove. He graduated from Kaneland High School with the class of 1977. He then attended Illinois State University but graduated from Rockford College in 1981 with a degree in Computer Science. MARRIAGE: He was united in marriage Lynn A. Klemp on June 17, 1989 in West Chicago, IL. They began their new life together in Aurora, IL where they bought property and built a house. That house became a home when they were blessed with two children, Brandon in 1990 and Lauren a year later in 1991.RESIDENTIAL HISTORY: Randy and Lynn went their separate ways in 1994. Later, Randy and Brandon lived with his parent’s in Sugar Grove so he could help care for his dad Vance who was suffering from Lou Gehrig’s disease, or ALS. Following his father’s battles, Randy began his own fight with liver disease in 2003 and waited patiently for seven years to be on the transplant list. His dreams were realized in 2009 but were dashed when he was diagnosed with Lymphoma in January 2010. OCCUPATION / WORK HISTORY:Randy worked as a consultant for Rims of Naperville, where he developed a medical system that is still in use today. He later started his own company specializing in custom medical software. Later, Randy came back to the family business, America’s Best Building Products, where he worked in sales and website development. MEMBERSHIPS: He was a member of the A.F &A.M Lodge #630, in Elburn. LIFE NOTES: Randy had a carefree spirit with an easy smile who was the type of the guy "who would go to a party in a goofy hat." In high school he was as serious about sports, excelling in basketball and becoming State Champions in track in 1976, as he was with practical jokes, putting soap in the radiators and exploding cigarettes among other infamous pranks known far and wide. Later in life, Randy fell in love with traveling. He began packing and making lists months in advance. His travels took him on cruises across the seas and to many parts of the world with family and friends. One of his favorites was the fishing trip he took with his Dad and his son Brandon to Canada. Randy always said that he may have made a lot of mistakes in his life but he had a lot of fun and that legacy of fun is what he leaves his family and friends. SURVIVORS: He now leaves his mother, Sharon Stayner of Sugar Grove, Two children:Brandon Stayner of Sugar Grove, and Lauren Stayner of North AuroraOne brother, Stephen C. (Linda L.) Stayner of Mattawan, MI;Two nieces;Stephenie (James) Stayner-Letcher of Kalamazoo, MI and Lindsey Stayner of Mattawan, MI;One nephew, Jason (Jenny) Stayner and their children, Katie, Harley, and Hunter, of Pentwater, MI, His aunt, Bonnie Sloss of Las Vegas, NV, His uncle, Ron (Gerri) Evans also of Las Vegas, NV, Many cousins and a large family of friends who shared in his lifetime of unforgettable memories.PRECEDED:He now joins his father Vance, his uncle Barry Sloss and his great aunt and uncle, Leona and Harry Wewetzer who preceded him in death. VISITATION / FUNERAL Visitation will be from 2-4:30 p.m., Saturday, February 20, 2010, at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL. A funeral service will follow visitation at 5 p.m. Private interment will occur following cremation at a later date. MEMORIAL A memorial has been established in his name to benefit ALS.
