ROBERT ALLAN, age 37, of Montgomery, passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours of Saturday, January 18, 2014. Robert was a wonderful husband and loving father, not to mention a son of which you could be very proud. In recent times, Robert failed to recognize all the love, support and blessings he was surrounded by, and in one fateful decision, decided that it would be best to end his life. That one decision didn’t darken his memory, or the life he lived. He lives on in hearts and minds of his family and friends who are thankful of the memories, courage and joy Robert gave to their lives. He was born September 9, 1976, in Aurora, the son of Robert and Carol (Pendergraft) Allan. Grew up in Elburn and attended local schools until he was nine years old. He lived with his father in Florida for a time before returning to Elburn in 1994. Robert found something very special when he met Aracely Garrido while they worked at Target. She left for Mexico for a time, and as they say, distance makes the heart grow fonder. Upon her return a year later they reconnected and a friendship blossomed into love. They were united in marriage on February 1, 2004. They began their new life together in Aurora and welcomed home a son, Robert Jonathan in 2005. A year later they settled in Montgomery where their second son Ethan Samuel made their family complete. Following his time at Target, Robert worked at Best Buy as a manager and member of the Geek Squad for ten years. He also worked for Mobil Tel, a subsidiary of AT&T, where he repaired damaged phones. Robert was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in North Aurora for several years. Robert’s mind was in tune with the world of computers and the newest technology. Not only was he good with circuits and wiring, he also was adept at many handyman projects around the house. His work ethic was second to none and his reliability was above reproach. If there was something he could do to support his family, there was no job to big or too small, and no job was beneath him. Often Robert went the not only the extra mile but several more just to be sure everything was taken care of. He had a sense of humor as dry as the desert and who was sometimes too smart for his own good. When he shared his great big smile, you felt as if you were in the joke or member of a very select club. He had a weakness for root beer, Oberweis ice cream and Cheerios (but never together). On the other hand, his palate was built for the spiciest food he could get his hands on. His imagination soared when he flew his remote control airplanes or raced his cars around his neighborhood at top speed. Robert was a no- nonsense kind of guy that was up front and honest, almost to a fault. You always knew where you stood with Robert. He was a great father who never was happier than when he wrestled, tickled and jumped around with his kids and will never be forgotten. He leaves his loving wife Aracely and their two children, Robert and Ethan, His father Robert Allan of FL, His mother, Carol Allan of St. Charles, IL;Two siblings:James Allen and Sarah Allan and her daughter Lily;Paternal grandmother Dorothy Sullivan;Several aunts and uncles including:Bill and Deb Jorgensen,Christina Lindholm, Richard Harris, Sue and Ken Bax; Many cousins and a family of friends. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Robert P. Allan, maternal grandparents, Bill and Bernice Pendergraft.
