Robert Emberson, age 98 of Ashville North Carolina, formerly of DeKalb, passed from this life to eternal life, Wednesday morning, December 20, 2006, at the home of his daughter, Helen. Robert was born Oct 9, 1908 in Maple Park, Il, the son of Robert T. and Laura Elva (Gandy) Emberson. He grew up on the Dayton Farm north of Maple Park; began his education at the Thatcher one room school (grades 1-8) and went on to graduate from Maple park High School.He was united in marriage to Marian C. Larsen on December 8, 1934 at the Kaneville Methodist parsonage, in Kaneville, Il. Forever a farmer at heart, he spent his life-time farming the land that he loved. When first married, he and Marian farmed on the hill across from the Dayton Farm. Later, they moved to the Galligher farm until 1947 when they moved to the Quonset House on County Line Rd. In the late 1950’sthey moved to the Fargo Farm on Rt. 38 where they remained through until the 1970’s when they retired and moved to DeKalb. In the fall of 2002, as he began to face failing health, Robert moved to Geneva, IL to make his home with his daughter, Rose (Lee) Mell. The following year, after the untimely death of his son-in-law, Fred, Robert, Rose and Lee all moved to Ashville, North Carolina to join Fred’s wife, Helen and make their home near by. Through the years, Robert was an avid golfer and he loved to bowl. He was a frequent face at the Kings Way Restaurant in Sycamore, where friends often shared a meal and good times. He now leaves three daughters, Margaret Garbo of Florence AZ., Rose (Lee) Mell of Mill Spring NC, Helen Faber of Asheville, NC. Two sons, Robert Emberson of DeKalb, Il, and Bill (Mary Ann) Emberson of Silver Spring MD.Seven Grandchildren:Randy (Laura) Mell of Charlotte NC.Jeri Mell of Maple ParkJeff Mell of Schaumburg, IlLance(Meta)Faber of Lewisburg WVDavid(Linda) Emberson of RockfordAnn Marie Emberson of Beltsville MD Joe(Trish) Emberson of Green Castle PA.11 Great grandchildrenLeah & Ethan Mell, Ashley & Tom Pisarski, Laken & Darcy Faber, Matt, Tyler & Allie Emberson and Courtney & Bobby Emberson.Many Nieces & NephewsPreceded:Truly "home for Christmas", he joins now his wife, Marian, his parents Robert & Elva, three brothers, Tom, Frank & Harold, three sisters, Laura Noreen, Bess Lyle and Hazel Baker who preceded him in death. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 27, 2006 3-8 at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, A service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday December 28, at 10:30 am at the funeral home. The Rev. Mark Meyers of the Grace United Methodist Church, Maple Park, IL will officiate and interment will follow at Gardner Cemetery, Maple Park, Il A memorial has been established in Robert’s name to benefit favorite charities, yet to be decided.Checks may be made to the Robert Emberson Memorial and mailed in care of P.O.
