NAME ROY W. JOHNSON, age 89, of Lily Lake, IL passed away on Feb. 17, 2011 at Delnor Hospital.BORN: He was born on Nov. 20, 1921 in Phoenix, AZ, the son of Birger A. and Jennie (Bloomquist) Johnson. EARLY YEARS:The family lived in Highwood, IL and St. Charles before moving, in 1935, to the farm at Lily Lake. EDUCATION: He graduated from St. Charles High School in 1939. MARRIAGE: On Aug. 19, 1944 he married Norma Leone Johnson. OCCUPATION / WORK HISTORY:Their life together was devoted to family and farming. She preceded him in death in 1993.MEMBERSHIPS: He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lily Lake. LIFE NOTES: He had a deep interest in local history supported by a prodigious memory.SURVIVORS: Survivors include four children, Ross (Jennie) Johnson of Tampa, FL, Ellen (Craig) Eden of Dorsey, IL, Paul (Betty) Johnson of Ft. Morgan, CO and Owen Johnson of Lily Lake. Also surviving are his sister, Betty Barnett of Napa, CA, brother John Johnson of Crystal River, FL, dear friend Jackie Obenauf of Wasco, 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.PRECEDED:He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Norma and one infant son. VISITATION / FUNERAL Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, February 20, 2011, at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL 60119. A funeral to celebrate his life will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, February 21, also at Conley Funeral Home. Rev. Ernst Rex, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, Lily Lake, will officiate and interment will follow at Blackberry Cemetery.
