H. Stanley Cady, age 81, of Sycamore, passed away at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on Tuesday, December 30, 2008. BORN: He was born June 28, 1927, the son of Rev. H. Milton and Mabel (Marlow) Cady in Buckhorn, IL.EARLY YEARS :Stanley grew up the son of a Methodist Minister and attended several local schools throughout Illinois. EDUCATION: Following graduation from Carbondale High School in 1945, Stanley enlisted into the United States Air Force. OCCUPATION / WORK HISTORY Upon returning to civilian life Stanley eventually settled in DeKalb and worked for his brother at Goal Post Restaurant. Later, with his mother-in-law, he opened Maple Cafe in Maple Park, before working for Northern Illinois Finance. He retired on his birthday from the National Bank and Trust of Sycamore after 23 years of dedicated service in June of 1992 MARRIAGE Stanley found a home for his heart in Roseann Keenan after only a few dates. Following a whirlwind "Christmas Courtship" they were united in marriage on October 17, 1953.RESIDENTIAL HISTORY: They began their new life together in Maple Park for a time until moving to Sycamore where they have since made their home for the last thirty-nine years. . MEMBERSHIPS Stanley was a long time member of the American Legion of Maple Park. LIFE NOTES Stanley was a simple man at heart. He was most happy surrounded by family and friends especially when they were gathered around the table for Sunday dinners, whether they were at his home or at his favorite restaurant. When the sun was shining you could find Stanley in the yard or on the road listening to his favorite big band music. Overall he was a loving father and husband whose memory will never diminish, but become more golden as the generations pass. SURVIVORS He now leaves his loving wife of fifty-five years, Roseann of Sycamore;Four children:Cindy Cady and her daughter Heather Lay, Kim (Randy Vaughn) Bower and Kim’s children Clara, Tim Jr. and Ryan; Patrick (Christine) Cady and their children Michael, Ashley and Zachary and Kevin (Karen) Cady and their children Courtney, Trace, and Cole;Two great-grandchildren:Lilyana and Ryan Jr.;Two nephews:Fred (Millie) Cady Jr. and Fred Green, One niece, Marcia Jean (Dick) Tracy, several cousins and a special family of friends and neighbors. In addition he leaves several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and their families:Paul and Fern Keenan,Madelyn Keenan andFran and Bill Brennan.PRECEDED He now joins his parents, one brother Marshall (Eula) Cady who died in the Battle of the Bulge in WWII, a brother Fred (Elfrieda) Cady, sister Eldora (Earl) Green and one nephew Gordon Green who preceded him in death. VISITATION / FUNERAL Private family services will be held Friday, January 2nd, 2009 followed by a public Celebration of Life reception at his son Kevin’s office, Cady Heating and Cooling at 116 S. California St., Sycamore from 2-5 p.m. MEMORIAL In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name to benefit DeKalb County Hospice.
