Age 74 of Middleburg, Florida, formerly of St. Charles, IL, passed away at the Orange Park Medical Center, Middleburg, FL, Saturday, April 8, 2006.BORN:He was born April 17, 1931, in Bluford, IL, the son of John and Florence (Helberg) McConnaughay EARLY YEARS :In 1933, his family moved to St. Charles, IL where Stan graduated from high school in 1949.MARRIAGE On July 5, 1952 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Chase. Through the years that followed, they lived in the Fox Valley area in a number of homes, all of which Stan remodeled substantially. EMPLOYMENTStan worked most of his life as a draftsman and was employed at Fox Valley Engineering, Barber Greene, Allis Chalmers, Caterpillar and Alumax from which he retired. Largely self taught and always improving, one of the enduring legacies of Stan’s life was his unfailing work ethic. LIFE NOTES & MEMBERSHIPS Stan and Betty not only taught their children of the Lord but raised them to serve humbly in His name. They were among the founding families of the New Life Assembly of God Church, St. Charles; and active members of the former Church of the Nazarene, St. Charles and the Four Square Church, St. Charles where Stan was especially active in the bus ministry. Stan and Betty were also members in the Souls Harbor Church, Aurora, where Stan was an Elder.Following Betty’s passing in 1998, Stan later met and married Sylvia Halsted Blanton November 9, 2002 in Rancho Cordova, CA. They settled in Florida where Stan hadbattled failing health in recent years and suffered a serious stroke in February of 2006. During the past three (3) years while married to Sylvia, Stan has been an active member of the First Assembly of God church in Middleburg, Florida, where he served as an elder and prayer partner. His service to the Lord was never ending making himself as well as his wife available at any given time of the day or night for the Lord\\\’s work. Stan was a loving husband, a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather and step father, and great friend to many. His first wife, Betty, One granddaughter, Rachael Griffey, Two step-grandson\\\’s Dean Whitehead and Paul Lewis.Three siblings:Marie ChaseHarold and Lloyd McConnaughay.MEMORIAL A memorial has been established in his name.
