Stella Burdi, of Batavia, formerly of Lombard, IL, passed away Monday evening, July 17, 2006 at the Countryside Care Center, Aurora, IL where she had become a resident in recent months. BORN/ EARLY YEARS / MARRIAGEStella was born January 6, 1921 the daughter of Nicholas and Serafina (Costanza) Vino in Triggiano, Bari, Italy. She grew up in Triggiano and attended local schools. Love found Stella early and she was united in marriage Vito Burdi in the mid 1930’s. They began their new life together in Italy for a time before coming to the United States in 1955 where they made their home in Chicago for many years. Later, in 1962 the family moved to Lombard, IL where Vito managed an Armanetti’s Liquor Store and Stella would sometimes help out. Following Vito’s death in 1974, Stella made her home with her daughter, Marge for a time before moving to an apartment in Batavia. There, she was comfortably self sufficient until moving recently to the Countryside Care Center, Aurora. LIFE NOTES Stella’s life was all about family and enjoying the simple, beautiful things in life. She was shy but always warm and caring. Family and friends knew that nothing would please Stella more than cooking a big meal of their favorite foods and inviting them over for dinner. SURVIVORS She is survived by one daughter, Margherita "Marge" (Brad) Randall of Kaneville, One granddaughter Lauren Randall of DeKalb, IL,Several nieces and nephews and a close circle of friends. PRECEDED In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Vito, as well as one brother and one sister. MEMORIAL A memorial has been established in her name to benefit the Kidney Foundation and other charities. Checks may be made to the Stella Burdi Memorial and mailed in care of P.O. VISITATION / FUNERAL Entombment committal services will be held at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, 1400 S. Wolf Rd., Hillside, IL, Thursday, July 20, 2006 at 11am. Arrangements entrusted to Conley Funeral Home, Elburn. 800-8-CONLEY.
