NAME Virginia "Ginny" Ann Vogel, age 56, of Barrington, formerly of Carpentersville, IL, passed away Saturday morning, February 27, 2010, at home, surrounded by the love of her family. BORN: She was born October 2, 1953, the daughter of Virgil "Bill" and Mary Lou (Hill) Veach in Bethesda, MD. EARLY YEARS:Because of her father’s service to his country in the United States Navy, Ginny’s family moved often but most of her growing up years were spent in Charleston, SC. Later they settled in Aurora, IL, just before Ginny was to enter high school. She graduated in 1972 from West Aurora High School. MARRIAGE: In 1970 Ginny met Charlie Vogel through her brother Bill. A romance began and before long they were united in marriage on March 17, 1972. RESIDENTIAL HISTORY: They made their home in Aurora and were eventually blessed with six children. Amy was born in 1974 and a year later they adopted a son, Greg in 1975. Kristopher was born in 1978 with Doug following in 1980. The family continued to grow with the birth of Bob in 1982 and the family became complete after Pat was born in 1984. They made their home in several areas as the family grew but settled in Carpentersville in 1983. They moved once more in 1999 when they made a home in Barrington, IL. LIFE NOTES: Ginny spent many years as a manager for various area retail outlets but keeping house and raising her six children was a full time job in and of itself. She had a love for all animals and operated her own pet shop, Ginny’s Pets and More in Winfield for a time. Over the years many pets made a home in her heart including the rescue of several racing Greyhounds and Parrots…but never cats. Ginny had many talents that found their way into everyday life including sewing clothes and sheets for her friends and family. Her kitchen was where she excelled as the aroma of pies and cookies filled every nook and cranny. Hardly a day would pass when she wouldn’t bake something that put all others to shame. In recent years, Ginny found many friends online from across the country, Canada, France and other parts of the world while playing her favorite game, Canasta. Antique shopping was also a favorite pastime where she cultivated a love for all things "Rooster". Her love of family trumped all as she loved any time she could spend with her children and especially her grandchildren.
