NAME Warren Bernhardt, age 86, of Elburn, peacefully passed away on November 11, 2009, at his home after a battle with cancer. BORN: He was born July 30, 1923, the son of Oscar and Rose (Galle) Bernhardt in Oak Park, IL. EARLY YEARS:Warren gained a sister two years later, Margeolaine and both of them grew up and attended local schools in Maywood, IL. He graduated from Proviso High School in 1941.MARRIAGE: Warren found his true love early in life at a roller rink in Villa Park, IL. Although Warren was 17 and Jeanne "Rae" Raiman was 13 at the time, their love never wavered and they were united in marriage six years later at the Methodist church in Maywood on June 28th, 1947. RESIDENTIAL HISTORY: They began their new life together in the Glen Ellyn Countryside and raised a family of four children, Ronald, Richard, Carol, and Thomas. OCCUPATION / WORK HISTORY:Warren worked at a number of jobs to provide for his family and settled on Bar Vending in St. Charles for 26 years. He retired in 1986 and soon thereafter moved to Elburn. LIFE NOTES: Warren’s love of automobiles kept him busy repairing the family’s cars. His vegetable garden was a source of pride and always provided a bounty of everything from tomatoes, squash, zucchini and more. He loved to startle his wife and make her "eyes water", by wearing mixed plaids where no plaids should be worn. SURVIVORS: He leaves his wife of 62 years, Jeanne, Four children:Ron (Tracy) Bernhardt of Mesa, AZ, Richard (Donna) Bernhardt of Grand Forks, ND, Carol Syme of Glen Ellyn, IL and Thomas Sr. (Julie) Bernhardt of Sarasota, FL;Seven grandchildren:Jill (Tony) Leitner, Jason Bernhardt, Rob (Lorine) Bernhardt, Michael Bernhardt, Timothy Bernhardt, Thomas Jr. Bernhardt and Victoria Bernhardt;Four great-grandchildren:Anna, Charlie Warren, Elle and Kaylin;Many nieces and nephews and family of friends.PRECEDED:He now joins his parents and one sister, Margeolaine Bernhardt, who preceded him in death. VISITATION / FUNERAL Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, November 28th, 2009 at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL. A memorial service to celebrate his life will follow the visitation at 4 p.m. MEMORIAL In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in this name to benefit his favorite charities. A memorial service to celebrate Warren\\\’s live will be held on Saturday Nov. 28 at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, Il times pending final arrangements.

Following cremation private commital services will be held at a later date.
