Linda Potvin, age 58, of Elburn, passed away suddenly, Sunday, June 14, 2020, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family.
She was born September 9, 1961, in Chicago, IL, to proud parents, Donald and Maryann (Maxium) Werling.
Linda grew up in Chicago for a time before making her home in several suburbs. She attended Downers Grove North High School where she also studied Cosmetology in the career center. She graduated with the class of 1979.
Linda met her husband Mark Potvin through family acquaintances and before long, they committed the rest of their lives to each other. They were united in marriage on May 2, 1981 at St. Mary’s Gostyn Catholic Church in Downers Grove. They began their new life together in Downers Grove and were blessed with four children. In 1989, the family moved to Elburn where Linda continued to make their house of home full of love, laughter and memories.
Linda was a homemaker but that title can’t come close to encompass all that she did for family and friends.
She was involved in both Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, and in addition she began an advanced co-ed scouting group named the Elburn Venturing Crew 413, and served on the BSA Eagle Board of Review. Linda also volunteered countless hours at the Elburn Food Pantry and Skills USA.
Linda enjoyed making cards for family and friends and scrapbooking. She reigned supreme in the kitchen, making mouthwatering cookies in batch after batch, though it was her chocolate chip cookie bars that brought her local acclaim. Sewing was also a pastime she enjoyed. From clothes, to bedding, to window treatments and more, there was nothing she couldn’t do. This talent lent itself well to her foray into interior decorating and bringing her visions to life. She loved travelling to anywhere where there was sun and water. Her favorite destinations were Hawaii and cruises where the sun and water were never in short supply. Linda was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and held a special place in her heart and home for her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Mark Potvin, her mother, Maryann Werling, four children: Paul (Alicia) Potvin and their children, Morgan and Blake, Kathy (Scott) Maddox and their children Brooke and Jake, Jill (Joe) Echols and their son Elijah, and Mike Potvin; one sister, Kim (Paul) Smith and their son Andrew and a community of friends who will all miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her father, Donald Werling.
A public celebration of her life will follow cremation at a later date.
