Robert "Bob" Hansel, age 84, of South Elgin passed away peacefully in the early morning of April 4, 2013 at Heritage Health in Elgin. He was born April 26, 1928 to Lisle and Minnie (Doberstein) Hansel in Elmhurst, IL.In May 1950 he married the woman who won his heart, Norma Nottolini at St. Patrick’s Church in St. Charles, where they were devoted members throughout the years. The newlyweds made their first home in Aurora and in 1951 they started their family when they welcomed their first child Roberta. Shortly thereafter their family grew with the addition of Norman and Lynn. He worked for Barber Greene Asphalt for over 30 years before retiring in 1984. He spent some time as a member of the St. Charles Moose Lodge 1368.Although Bob enjoyed fishing, he loved nothing more than taking care of his family. SURVIVORS: His children:Roberta (Carl) Kennedy, Norman (Diane) Hansel, and Lynn (George) Novak;His grandchildren:Tina, Holly, Jennifer, Robert, Andrew, and Stephanie;His great-grandchildren:Alexander, Dillian, Ian, Kaitlynn, Elizabeth, and Annabella. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Norma Hansel.His siblings: Gertrude Acre, Marion Flowers, Lisle Hansel, an infant brother Edward Hansel, Wilma Reeves, and George Hansel. A memorial mass will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday April 13, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Church 400 Cedar Street, St. Charles 60174, with Rev. Slawomir Zimodro celebrating.
