Robert L. Splain of Elburn, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015.

He was born May 21, 1942 to Sherman and Ruby Splain in Detroit, Illinois.

The family moved to from central Illinois to Aurora when Bob was six years old. They made their home on Sard Ave. while Bob attended local schools.

Suzanne Johnson met the man she would share almost 45 years of memories when she was only 7 years old when both she and Bob Splain were receiving treatment for Polio. Years later, Suzanne looked him up and it didn’t take long before their hearts became one. They were united in marriage on November 18, 1967 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Batavia, IL.

They began their new life together in Park Shore Apartments in St. Charles for a time before building a house in Elburn on Keslinger Rd. in 1964. They made that house a home and filled it with memories, making a life that will be remembered for generations. Suzanne left this world in 2012 but is now reunited with the love of her life. Both are now free from their earthly chains and can dance in the celestial air of Heaven.

Bob was a dedicated production inspector for National Electronics in Elburn for 12 years until health issues forced an early retirement.

Both Bob and Suzanne were faithful member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Batavia and in later years, Faith Lutheran Church in Geneva.

When Suzanne and Bob first were married, they loved to travel anytime and anywhere. Their trips took throughout the U.S., taking in the sights as they went. Destinations included Yellowstone National Park and Mt. Rushmore to Cape Canaveral in Florida and many places in between. One trip took them south to Mexico and was particularly memorable for all involved. When at home, Bob enjoyed riding the mower around the lawn but he never missed a chance to cast a line alongside Suzanne at their favorite fishing hole.

Bob is survived by one brother Russell J. Splain; Two sisters: Patricia (Steve) Holper and Shirley (Les) McComb; Many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

His preceded by his wife Suzanne Splain; His parents Sherman and Ruby Splain; Step-father Joseph Bateman and sisters Barbara(Cecil) Ostrom and Nancy(John) Lawhorn.
