Ronald O. Peterson, age 85 formally of Maple Park went to be with his Lord on May 21, 2016 at the Providence Nursing Facility in New Albany, IN.

He was born on Tuesday, July 22, 1930 in Chicago the son of Oscar Andrew and Eva Augusta Peterson.

Although Ronald lived in many different places he always considered the town where he grew up, Maple Park, his home.

He attended local schools and graduated from Maple Park High School in 1948. After graduation he learned on the job from his father how to run a business.

He married the love of his life who happened to be his high school sweetheart, Helen Imogene Merriman, on March 3, 1949.

Ronald was a business owner and grocer at Peterson’s Grocery Store from the time he graduated high school until 1973. This is when he felt a calling to switch careers and become a salesman for Decatur Custom Tool until his retirement in 1995.

He was a long time member of his home church, Grace United Methodist Church in Maple Park.

Ronald loved people and could talk to anybody, which is why he was a great businessman/salesman. He enjoyed fishing all his life and went on many fishing trips with friends, during which it seemed he was always the treasurer and cook. Ronald didn’t even like fish, but he enjoyed the company. He and his bride also enjoyed many trips with their dear friends Joe and Marge Turk.

He leaves behind one daughter; Lori (John) Riggs, two grandchildren; Ben Riggs and Amanda (Eddie) Carlisle, and one great grandson; Levi Carlisle.

Ronald now joins his parents Oscar and Eva, wife Helen Imogene (Perudy), and his son Michael.
