Rosaline Rose F. McGrath, 93, of Streamwood, formerly of Elburn and West Chicago, passed away peacefully Friday, March 27, 2015 surrounded by the love and prayers of her family. Rose was born on June 17, 1921 in Chicago to proud parents Stephen and Francis Urban. She grew on the north side of Chicago and attended local schools. She went to live with her grandparents when her mother passed away at an early age. Rose met Wendell Ledman McGrath while working at Chicago Transformers in Chicago. Their eyes met and love was meant to be. Their hearts were united in Holy Matrimony on December 14, 1943 in Chicago.Rose and Wendell made their home on Laverne Avenue in Chicago. There, they were blessed with 2 beautiful children, George and Clarice. Rose raised the kids while Wendell worked at Chicago Transformer. The family moved around for a time, spending some years in Wayne, IL before settling in West Chicago. Rose started working at Geneva Hospital as a Dark Room Technician around 1986 and spent 18 years there before it became Delnor Hospital. She retired in 1994. Rose was a member of the West Chicago Bible Church for over 30 years. In the mid 80’s Rose joined the Church of the Comforter, formerly of Schaumburg.Rose loved traveling with her daughter Clarice, taking road trips to Wisconsin Dells, Arkansas, Alabama, Charleston, South Carolina, San Diego, and Virginia Beach to visit her granddaughters. Rose was a maker of hooked rugs. She enjoyed making them with her daughter Clarice. She loved arts and crafts and making ornaments for her grandchildren. She liked taking Christmas cards and making them into a scrapbook and taking them to sick children at the hospital where she worked. Rose was a true thrill seeker, riding in a hot air balloon when she was 70, and riding on the back of a motorcycle when she was a spry 86. Rose most cherished her family, spending as much time, and imparting her wisdom on her 3 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Rose is gone from this Earth but she will never be forgotten. Rose is survived by her son George (Carolyn) McGrath, daughter Clarice McGrath; 3 grandchildren, Cindi (Jose) Arroyo, Christine (Keith) Carroll and Cheri (Scott) Crumbly; 6 great grandchildren, Arlena (Raymond) Walker, Sarah Barnes, Luke and Ally Carroll, and Jacob and Joshua Crumbly.Rose is preceded in death by her husband Wendell, her parents Stephen and Francis Urban, and her sister Florence Boehm.A visitation will be held Thursday, April 2, from 1-2 pm at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce, Elburn. A funeral service will follow visitation at 2 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Blackberry Cemetery, Elburn, IL.
