Scott Stouffer

Scott Bailey Stouffer, age 57, of Maple Park, formerly of St. Charles, passed away at home, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family, in the early morning hours of Friday, December 12, 2014. Though he lost a valiant and hard fought battle with cancer, he claims the victory of his Savior and now rests in celestial grace. He was born September 2, 1957, in Aurora, IL, the son of Robert B. and Myrna J. (Rees) Stouffer. Scott may have begun his life in Aurora, but his formative years were spent in Kaneville where he attended local schools. He graduated with the class of 1975 before attending Waubonsee Community College. Scott was set up to meet a girl named Linda Harmon in 1983. What followed was a whirlwind courtship that swept the couple off their feet, landing squarely at the altar where they were united in marriage less than a year later on March 10, 1984 at First Baptist Church in Geneva, IL. They began their new life together in Geneva for a time before buying a house in St. Charles. For the next five years they made it home, filling it not only with memories, but also a growing family as well. In 1990, the family, that now included David and Katie, moved to Maple Park where they welcomed Jessica, who made their family complete. Scott’s working career began at Caterpillar for a time before working at Equipto Elelectronics in Aurora. Over thirty years later, Scott continued to be a valued employee and became a supervisor before his failing health brought him into retirement.Scott was a faithful member and Elder of the First Baptist Church in Sycamore for over twenty years. He also was a Chairman of the Missions Board where his passion shone clear and bright for many years, taking trips to Ireland, Russia and Hungary. In his younger years, Scott and Linda would spend time with friends playing sports, listen to concerts and generally hang out at the Crossroads in Big Rock. He was also a movie buff, specializing from Adventure to Sci-Fi. Every Friday he made his special homemade pizza and play board games, like Risk, Hearts, Uno, Canasta and many more with his kids. Scott wasn’t a gambling man, but when it came to poker, Scott never skimped on his bets of Skittles and M&M’s. Scott never smoked, but enjoyed chewing on his favorite cigars, especially when he held court on the backyard barbeque. His garden was tended with care, watching his flowers bloom and his table fill with the fall harvests of vegetables. Scott was a no holds barred Paintball enthusiast and went fishing in Canada with family, not to mention trips on Lake Michigan with friends from church. Scott had a passion for his faith and for his family that will be the legacy that he leaves for others to treasure. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Linda,Three children: Dave (Stephanie) Stouffer,Katie Stouffer and Jessy Stouffer; One grandson on the way, His parents, Bob and Myrna Stouffer;Two brothers: Stephen (Linda) Stouffer and Bill (Jennifer) Stouffer;Many nieces and nephews including: Adam (Jessie) Stouffer and their daughter Addison, Emily (Chad) Bosse, Max and Reese Stouffer and a countryside full of friends. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m., Monday, December 15, 2014, at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL 60119. A funeral to celebrate his life and faith will be Tuesday, December 16, at First Baptist Church, 530 W. State St., Sycamore, IL, at 10 a.m., with a time of visitation from 9-9:45 a.m. Interment will follow at Kaneville Cemetery, Kaneville, IL. A memorial has been established in his name.
