Shirley Jaeger, age 80, of Elburn, formerly of Hoffman Estates, IL, passed away at her home, surrounded by the love and care of her family, Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
She was born July 12, 1939 in Chicago, IL, to proud parents, Albert and Julia Kosirog.
Shirley grew up in Chicago and attended local schools. She graduated from Lucy Flower Technical High School with the class in 1957.
She continued her education at Wright Junior College where she received an Associate’s Degree.
Shirley was busy working as a waitress at a local bowling alley when her roommate introduced a friend of hers, Robert “Bob” Jaeger. It didn’t take much time, maybe a little longer than it took to set up ten pins, and Bob was hooked. Shortly thereafter a friendship bloomed into love. They were united in marriage May 22, 1965 in Chicago. They began their new life together in Norridge, IL for a time before settling in Hoffman Estates a year later. It wasn’t until 1987 that they moved to Elburn and continued to make memories with family and friends alike.
Kamin Dye and Cutler-Hammer were her first employers before she spent 30 years as President, at Advanced Micro Lites, playing David versus the Goliath’s of the industry. They made their mark and stood tall amongst the competition.
Shirley was always right, every time, all the time. You never had to worry about where you stood with Shirley. She let you know it in no uncertain terms, on multiple occasions if necessary, but her heart was always open to love and friendship. The “Hoffman Hood” knew her as “She-She” but her grandkids knew her as “Grandma Trouble”. She was a community leader (and often mischief maker). Her sense of humor was shared early and often much to the delight and hilarity of family and friends.. Bowling was a passion that she shared with Bob, but her athleticism wasn’t contained to the bowling alley. In her younger years she swam and played tennis for fun. Her grandchildren were always in her nightly prayers as well as in a special place in her heart. The relationships that she grew with each of them were individual and distinct, making each one feel special. Family vacations to Aruba highlighted her travel memories, taking her favorite sights and sounds. As much fun as it was to vacation with family, it was when they gathered for Christmas and Easter that Shirley shone the brightest. She was a beacon to her family, and the world is dimmer for her loss, but Heaven shines brighter than ever when she walked through the Pearly Gates.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Bob Jaeger; four children: Dan (Angela) Jaeger, Dawn (Michael) Kuefler, Donna (Ed) Schmidt and Bobby (Corinne) Jaeger; nine grandchildren: Logan Jaeger, Justin Jaeger, Danny Jaeger, Josh Kuefler, Paige Kuefler, Jed Kuefler, Jakob Schmidt, Julia Jaeger and Lizzie Jaeger; a brother Dennis (Cheryl) Kosirog, many nieces, nephews and a family of friends.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Julie Kosirog; one granddaughter, Jessica Jaeger; four brothers, Rich, Lenny, Jimmy Kosirog and Bob “Bobka”, aka “Yellow Bird” Kosirog who passed away on the very same day, eleven years ago.
