Susan E. Aeppli, Age 53 of Maple Park, IL, passed away, Friday, March 23, 2007 at Delnor Commnity Hospital, Geneva, following a sudden collapse. BORN / EARLY YEARSShe was born June 4, 1953 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Walter F. and Mary A. (Osman) Hansen.Susan grew up on the northwest side of the city where she worked for a number of years as a waitress and later as a teller at the Plaza Bank. MARRIAGE & FAMILYA blind date would one day lead her to Scott Aeppli and that date would lead to matrimony. They soon found that they shared the same birthday (a year apart) and later discovered that their grandparents had actually been good friends and neighbors. On September 1, 1973, Susan and Scott brought their families and their own friendship "full circle" as they were wed that Autumn day in Chicago. They made their home in the city, upstairs from Susan’s mother, until shortly after "the Princess", Jamie, was born. In 1976 they left the city and moved to Streamwood, IL where Kristin was born. In 1986/87, they moved to Naperville, IL where gradually, their life "went to the dogs". Their first had been Maggie, then Maxine, a Great Dane. Her death was so hard they were sure they would never have another – but within a few weeks, they discovered Jack Russell Terriers – and the rest is history. In a very short time, one became three which became eight and in February of 2002, Susan and Scott moved their four-legged-family to their present country home near Elburn. Susan and Scott became very involved in the Jack Russell Dog Club and enjoyed traveling to dog shows across the country as well as holding events at their own home. Their love of the dogs was made all the more special because Susan was afflicted with Multiple Sclerosis. The disease may have limited her mobility, but never her determination -or her imagination! When she wasn’t caring for the dogs, Susan was collecting things. From dolls to Penguins to Princess Diana memorabilia and countless Hallmark and Disney figures, Susan adorned every inch of their home with keepsakes. Her appetite for collecting seemed insatiable. Though gregarious, outgoing and generous to a fault, she became the "cantankerous collector" when anything threatened her collecting "frontiers". Through it all, the dogs were the glue that kept Susan’s life together – until Alexandria Marie came along. Susan was proud to be a "grandma" and grateful for the times and memories she shared with Alexandria.
