SUZANNE SPLAIN, age 69, of Elburn, passed away surrounded by the love and prayers of her family, Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at Provena Mercy Center Hospital, in Aurora, IL. BORN: She was born July 6, 1942, the daughter of Edwin R. and Arlene (——) Johnson. EARLY YEARS:Suzanne grew up in Batavia and attended local school. She graduated from Batavia High School with the class of 1960. Following graduation, Suzanne worked for Sears for time before working for a local book bindery. Later, she worked for Fox Valley Jobbers and answered phone for a Country West Towing before retiring. MARRIAGE: Suzanne met the man she would share almost 45 years of memories when she was only 8 years old when both she and Bob Splain were receiving treatment for Polio. Years later, Suzanne looked him up and it didn’t take long before their hearts became one. They were united in marriage on November 18, 1967 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Batavia, IL. RESIDENTIAL HISTORY: They began their new life together in Park Shore Apartments in St. Charles for a time before building a house in Elburn on Keslinger Rd. in 1964. They made that house a home and filled it with memories, making a life that will be remembered for generations. MEMBERSHIPS: Suzanne was a faithful member of both the Bethany Lutheran Church in Batavia and in later years, Faith Lutheran Church in Geneva, IL. LIFE NOTES: When Suzanne and Bob first were married, they loved to travel anytime and anywhere. Their trips took throughout the U.S., taking in the sights as they went. Destinations included Yellowstone National Park and Mt. Rushmore to Cape Canaveral in Florida and many places in between. One trip took them south to Mexico and was particularly memorable for all involved. Suzanne loved being outside, mowing the grass and tending the garden, gracing her home with beautiful flowers and serving mouthwatering dishes like "no peek" stew using vegetables from the harvest. Other delicious recipes included her famous lasagna and goulash, tater tot casserole and homemade macaroni and cheese. Basically, if Suzanne made up her mind up to cook something, you could guarantee it would be good. Suzanne was the definition of the word grace. Her faith was true and her heart was quick to love and even quicker to forgive. Her inner strength and resolve was stronger than many. She overcame breathing difficulties for over fifteen years, and was an example of how to live a life no matter what obstacles life gives you. Although she and Bob never had any children, their nieces, nephews, cousins and a family of friends will miss her dearly. SURVIVORS: She is survived by her loving husband of almost 45 years, Bob and Two siblings:Ed (Karen) Johnson and Kathy (Keith) Douthit.
