Adele E. ReadAge 94, of Elgin, passed away peacefully at the Apostolic Christian Resthaven, Elgin, where she had made her home for the past several years.BORN/RESIDENCE/ EDUCATIONShe was born April 25, 1910 in Plato Twp. the daughter of Carl A. and Anna (Carlson) Bowgren. The family moved to Lily Lake in 1918 where she graduated rom high school and went on to attend business college in Elgin.MARRIAGE On October 22, 1927, she was united in marriage to Sidney Read at the Presbyterian Chapel in Elgin. The Rev. John Vonckz performed the wedding and the happy couple began their life together in Elburn. They soon returned to the Elgin area where they farmed for many years. Adele worked side-by-side with Sidney all of their married life. From driving the tractor to keeping the books, Adele was truly a working "farm wife". Later, as Sidney began Read Septic Service, Adele’s business education continued to serve them well as she managed the business books for many years.LIFE NOTESRetiring in 1973, Sidney and Adele enjoyed traveling across the country and around the world. Still, Adele was a homemaker whose hands were never idle. From the garden to the kitchen Adele was a good cook, and was touted by her family as "the world’s best pie maker". She also made many crafts that still grace the homes of her family. Through the years, Adele enjoyed bowling as well, and was still active on a team at age 85. SURVIVORS She is survived by two sons Robert (Bonnie) Read of St. Charles, IL andWayne Read of Laguna Woods, CAFive grandchildren and their families:Donald (Sally) Read of Batavia, IL (and their family :Brian, Karl and Benjamin;)Linda (Wm "Bill") Bauman of St. Charles, IL, Michael Read of Irvine, CA, David (Jennifer) Read of Houston, TX (and their family, Jack and Henry);And Krista (Bob) Hayes of Redondo Beach, CA (and their family, Logan and Ford)PRECEDED She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of sixty-eight years, Sidney; two brothers, Norman and Harold Bowgren and one sister, Hemmy Wallace.MEMORIAL In Lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory may be made to the Apostolic Christian Resthaven and mailed in care of P.O. Friends may call at visitation hours, Sunday, Feb. 6, from 2-4pm at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL Funeral services will follow at 4:30pm Sunday.

Committal services to conclude on Monday, February 7 at 11am at Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin, IL.
