Passing from this life just six hours before her ninety-second birthday, she celebrated instead, her "first birthday" in heaven. BORN: She was born June 24, 1913 in Greenburr, PA, the daughter of Raymond and Laura (Miller) Kahl. When Alice was a baby, her family moved to Kaneville and by 1919, her father began farming on Perry Rd. They continued there until 1930 when they moved to Maple Park. Alice remained at home for a number of years, caring for her mother and working at Cords Mfg. in DeKalb.MARRIAGE / RESIDENCE / MEMBERSHIPSOn May 18, 1958, she married Orvis Schroyer and they settled on Main Street Road near Rt. 47. They made their home there for many years and also enjoyed winters in Florida or Arkansas. Following Orivs’ death in 1982, Alice moved to Maple Park several years later where she was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church.LIFE NOTES Although Alice was never blessed with children, she loved her nieces and nephews and their children as though they were her own. She spent hundreds of hours babysitting and loved every minute. In return, she was deeply loved by her family and many friends. Never one to ask for anything for herself, Alice was generous to a fault when it came to others. Determined to be independent and self-sufficient, she always insisted that family and friends who did anything for her, were "compensated" in one way or another. Among those "compensations" were tasty treats, including her favorite fried mush and baked custard. Alice raised a garden that was as beautiful as it was bountiful. Her hands were always preparing something, even making and sharing her fresh tomato juice at age ninety. SURVIVORS She is survived by one sister, Lucille A.
