Anna Lillian Damon, age 91, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of June 22, 2013, at Tillers Nursing and Rehab Center in Oswego. Lillian was born at her parents’ home in Sugar Grove, on October 30, 1921, the daughter of Peter and Emma (Loeffel) Lorenz. She attended local schools before graduating from West Aurora High School. Her husband Frank was introduced to Lillian by a friend of his. After a period of courtship, they exchanged vows at the Sugar Grove Methodist Church on March 21, 1942.While Frank was in the military, they lived in Georgia. After returning home, they moved to the family farm in Blackberry Township. They lived on the farm until 1971, when they moved to Big Rock. Lillian was a loving mother to her family making sure they always had what they needed. She raised their three children, was a wonderful cook, and preserved much of the produce from her half-acre garden. In addition to caring for her family, she tended chickens and her own flock of sheep. Lillian and Frank enjoyed their family and friends, creating a lifetime of memories before Frank passed away in 2001. Lillian was a longtime member of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 30 years. She was involved with the church bazaar, helped serve church suppers, was a member of the quilting group, and headed the committee that made pies for the Sugar Grove Corn Boil. She is survived by three children: Carol Crane, Sandra (Larry) Flickinger, Rich (Debbie) Damon;Eight grandchildren:Elizabeth (Dan) Hellner, Ralph Flickinger, Rodney Flickinger, Todd (Patti) Damon, Marc (Christy) Damon, Scott Damon, Nick Damon, Andrew (Emily) Tannhauser;Two great grandchildren Emma and Ethan Damon.She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank Damon, four siblings Daisy (Steve) Vargo, Rose (George) Hohmann, Alice Lorenz, and Paul Lorenz, son-in law Bill Crane, and great granddaughter Tessa Damon. VISITATION/ FUNERAL Visitation will be held Wednesday June 26, 2013 from 4-8pm at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn. A funeral service celebrating Lillian’s life will be held Thursday June 27, 2013 at 11am. Pastor Richard Mayer, of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Garfield Cemetery.MEMORIAL A memorial has been established in Lillian’s name to benefit the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church: Checks may be made to the "Sugar Grove United Methodist Church" and mailed in care of P.O. Visitation will be held Wednesday June 26, 2013 from 4-8pm at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn. A funeral service celebrating Lillian’s life will be held Thursday June 27, 2013 at 11am. Pastor Richard Mayer, of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Garfield Cemetery.
