David Wayne Austin of Plato Township, IL peacefully passed away in his home Monday Oct 17th at 8:20am with his loving wife Diane, son Erik, and his best friend Craig Loy at his side. David was born, in Corning, NY, the son of Alfred and Marguerite (Crandall) Austin. The eldest of two children, he was later joined by a sister, Elaine [Austin] Skellett. David was employed at the Fermi National Laboratory for twenty-three years. Not long after retiring, he moved to Plato Township to enjoy his animals and farm. With his great sense of humor David proclaimed himself "Head of Engineering and Maintenance" as he constructed and maintained the property. Whether he was designing the electrical system for the horse barn or simply caring for the horses, David loved every aspect of the farm. He is survived byHis wife Diane (Rannin) Austin,three children: Erik D. Austin, Victoria [Jon] Books, and Elizabeth [Joseph] Robinson, and three grandchildren: Erik A. Books, Eloise B. Books and Michael J. Robinson. And one sister, Elaine [Austin] Skellett.His entire family will be forever grateful to David’s dear friend and brother-in-law, Craig Loy, for his kindness, support, and devotion to David. They would also like to thank Dr. Karen Catching for her commitment to excellence in medical care combined with a kind, caring attitude.
