NAME/ AGE EDWARD G. WILSON, age 87, of Wheaton, formerly of Lombard, passed away Monday, September 15, 2008 at the DuPage Convelescent Center, Wheaton, IL. BORN He was born in Chicago, April 18, 1921, the son of George and Evelyn (Wilson) Wilson. He grew up in Chicago and attended local schools graduating with the class of 1939. Following graduation he became an apprentice printer for a time before enlisting in the United States Navy and fought in WWII. Upon returning to civilian life he went back into the printing trade and received his Journymens Card and eventually spent sixty years in the printers union of Chicago working for the Chicago Tribune. In 1954 the family moved Lombard where they made their home until 1999 when he moved into the DuPage Convelescent Center in Wheaton, IL. MARRIED Edward was united in marriage to Lorraine Bohman.LIFE NOTES Ed loved to ride motorcycles as well as horses along Lake Michigan as a child. Building model trains and airplanes was a favorite pastime, as well as making ceramics. He enjoyed the companionship of pets of all kinds, cats, dogs and tropical fish. He loved to read fiction and he liked to use his shortwave radio to listen to anybody who was talking on the air. His sense humor kept spirits up over the years, especially when he would tell his "man" stories. FAMILY MEMBERS He now leaves one son, Bruce (Jeannine) Wilson of Elburn;Three grandchildren, John Birkenmaier of Elburn, Jodi Birkenmaier of St. Charles, IL, and Julie Saloga and her children, Nicholas, Caleb and Lily, of Batavia, IL;Several nieces and nephews and a family of friends. PRECEDED He now joins his parents and his wife who preceded him in death. VISITATION/ FUNERAL Friends may call from 9:30-10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St. Elburn, IL. A memorial service to celebrate his life will follow at 10:30 a.m. Private family interment will follow at a later date. MEMORIALS A memorial has been established in his name.
