John Wilson, age 43, of St. Charles, died unexpectedly, Sunday, July 27, 2014, following a tragic workplace accident. John was a man whose life shadow will linger along with his memories, leaving a legacy that will never be forgotten. He was born on June 10, 1971, in Elgin, IL, the son of Walter and Jean (Savoy) Wilson. John grew up in St. Charles and attended local schools. He graduated from St. Charles High School in 1989. Following high school, John made a trip to Alaska to work on the fishing boats during the salmon season. After three months John found it didn’t quite agree with him as much as spending more time with Julie Regelbrugge so he returned to the area with only one person on his heart and mind. John lost his heart to Julie almost as soon as he met her. He became the luckiest man alive when she gave hers in return and were united in marriage on October 18, 1996 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. They began their new life living with her parents while John began looking for thier home. They christened their new home a year later. Four blessings came along to make their family complete: Walter was born that same year, Jonathan came in 1998, Matthew blessed them in 2000 and daddy’s little girl came last but not least in 2004. After returning from Alaska, John worked hard to become an accomplished electrician and member of the IBEW. He began working for Dave’s Electric for time before moving to Unity Electric. John worked for the last ten years for R&R Electric. John also dedicated fifteen years to the community of Geneva while serving on the Geneva Fire Department. In addition to these duties, John was the unofficial planner, camp director, chief cook and bottle washer for all of the family vacations. John was a faithful member of St. Patrick Catholic Church as well as a longtime member of IBEW #461.John had a passion for food and was a connoisseur of all things tasty. John could "out-barbeque" the best in the business and his status was proved both in the back yard and over the campfire. Practical jokes were a favorite pastime, many of them born from childhood antics that fueled countless stories that shall remain untold in mixed company. He was an avid hunter with both bow and rifle and he could cast a fishing line like a pro. John diligently and dutifully passed on his wisdom to his children, patiently teaching them every step of the way. He loved his family with a passion that was second to none. His favorite times were spent in their company and more memories were made in an afternoon than most people make in a year. John never met a stranger and everyone who was lucky enough to know him, will never forget his sense of humor and love for life. He is survived by his loving wife Julie and their four children: Walter, Jonathan, Matthew and Faith;Three siblings: Daniel (Kate) Wilson,Sarah Wilson and his twin brother Walter (Alissa) Wilson; His mother, Jean Wilson;Three nieces and nephews: Luke, A.J. and Emma Wilson and a community filled to the brim with friends. He is preceded in death by his father Walter Wilson. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11am, Friday, August 1, at St. Patrick Mission Catholic Church, 6N491 Crane Rd., St. Charles, IL. Fr.
