NAME Lena M. Easley, age 83, formerly of Batavia, passed away at Countryside Nursing Home, Aurora on November 20, 2005.BORN Lena was born May 25, 1922 the daughter of Leon and Reilly (Duke) Pannell in Arkansas. CHILDHOOD She grew up in Arkansas and attended local schools. Lena was part of a family of sharecroppers who worked the land and in return saw the ground yield bountiful harvests.MARRIED Lena was united in marriage in November 29, 1941 to Wayne Easley. They began their life working as they always had until Wayne passed away in 1958. Following his death, Lena and her family moved to St. Charles, Illinois in 1967. In 1975, she moved to Batavia and worked in several factories. When her children were grown and had children of their own, she retired in 1988. LIFE NOTES Lena was a quintessential farm women. She was very strong and determined woman who raised five children on her own following her husband’s death. When she did have time to herself she enjoyed playing cards, especially Rook and Canasta, with the women of the neighborhood. Lena had a feisty personality that won her many friends throughout her life. Living at the nursing home for the past few years, her spirit remained strong and independent even as her body began to fail. Though now she rests in the arms of her Savior, her memory will live forever in the hearts of her family and friends. SURVIVORS She leaves now her five children: Wayne (Dauna) Easley of Cincinnati, OH, Eva Jane (Bill) Edmonds of Elgin, IL, Joyce Riggs of Sheridan, IL, Ron Easley of South Elgin, IL and Bill (Lori) Easley of Negley, OH;9 grandchildren;12 great grandchildren;One brother, Orville Easley of Huntsville, Alabama,And many nieces and nephews and a family of friends. PRECEDED She joins now her loving husband Wayne, and three siblings who preceded her in death. VISITATION Friends may call on Friday, November 25, at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, from 4-8 p.m. SERVICES A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, November 26, at 11 a.m. at Conley Funeral Home. Rev. Kathrine Lawes, pastor of the Community Congregational Church of Elburn, will officiate and interment willl follow at River Hills Cemetery, Batavia, IL.MEMORIALS Memorials may be made in her name and mailed to P.O.
