NAME Nancy A. Otto, age 77, of Elburn, formerly of Smithville, Upper Saddle River, and Franklin Lakes NJ, passed away on October 4, 2006 at Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva. BORN: She was born September 7, 1929 the daughter of John and Evelyn (Christopher) Kievit in Glen Rock, NJ. EARLY YEARS:Nancy grew up in Midland Park and attended local schools. MARRIAGE Nancy was united in marriage on February 11, 1955 in Midland Park to John Otto. They began their new life together in Upper Saddle River and Franklin Lakes areas and continued to live there for the next thirty years. In October of 2005, John and Nancy moved to Elburn, IL to be closer to their children. OCCUPATION / WORK HISTORY MEMBERSHIPS Nancy served her community by being a charter member of the Franklin Lakes Volunteer Ambulance Corp and past Captain of the Upper Saddle River Volunteer Ambulance Corp as well as the past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Franklin Lakes and Upper Saddle River Fire Departments. LIFE NOTES Nancy loved many kinds of music and danced to it all especially Neil Diamond, polka’s and Billy Ray Cyrus. She loved to play games with her grandchildren including Monopoly but when the children weren’t around, Poker was the game of choice. She collected lighthouses, Santa Claus figurines, and memories made swimming in the ocean. Nancy had a quick smile and a laugh that was undeniably contagious. When it came to sports, no one was above her beloved New York Yankees unless one of her grandchildren was playing and then all bets were off. The same went for anytime there was a concert and no one clapped louder. Nancy was a true patriot who believed in supporting her country and kept abreast of current events but also enjoyed learning about history as well. Overall, Nancy was devoted to her family and spent as much time as possible making her house a home for the thousands of memories made over the years.
