ROBERT "Bob" L. JUMPER, age 81, of St. Charles, formerly of Aurora, passed away peacefully November 12, 2010 at Arden Courts of Geneva where he had made his home in recent years.He was born March 22, 1929 in Aurora, IL, the son of Fred and Beulah (Stewart) Jumper.He grew up on the east side of Aurora where he attended Oak Park School and East Aurora High School. Two young hearts were joined when Robert was united in marriage to Gloria "Lucy" VanDeventer and they made their home in Aurora.Robert joined the U.S. Army and served in Okinawa, Japan during the occupation following WW II. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home to Aurora and worked as a printer at the Beacon News. In the mid-1950’s, Bob put his salesmanship skills to work and began selling Wearever cookware with his old friend Don. Together they were an unbeatable team. Bob went on to working as a car salesman at several area dealerships. He was a "people person" with a gift of gab which were skills he used throughout his lifetime. In 1967, he and Lucy went their separate ways.Bob began playing saxophone, and later clarinet, at Oak Park School and as the years went by he became an accomplished musician who loved to play all kinds of music. When he went out with friends for an evening of fun he would often sit in with whatever band was playing that night. Bob was a showman and the stage always felt like "home". He is survived by two daughters, Bobbie (Dan) Wendorf of North Aurora, IL and Jacqueline Jumper of Darien, CT; two grandchildren, Lisa Marion and Mark Wendorf; one great-grandchild, Faith Wendorf and a lifetime of friends.He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard.Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12:00 on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL, with a funeral service will follow at 12 o’clock. The Rev. John Bushi, chaplain for Vitas Hospice, will officiate and interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Hinckley, IL.In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Robert’s name to benefit Vitas Hospice. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12:00 on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL, with a funeral service will follow at 12 o’clock. The Rev. John Bushi, chaplain for Vitas Hospice, will officiate.

Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Hinckley, IL.
