Robert "Bob" G. Smith, of Geneva, formerly of St. Claire Michigan passed away suddenly Sunday, March 29, 2015 surrounded by the love and prayers of his family. He is gone too soon, but he will never be forgotten. Bob was born on February 3, 1935 in St. Clair, Michigan to parents Grant and Mildred Smith.Bob was a proud graduate of the University of Michigan where he received his bachelor’s degree in engineering. He continued his education, receiving his master’s degree from Keller School of Management. Bob was a proud member of the St. Peter’s food pantry for over 15 years where he was a past director for many years. He was member of The Sigma Nu fraternity at University of Michigan. He was an active member at the Norris Tennis Center in St. Charles. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Janet; his 4 daughters, Jennifer (Mike) Wolfkiel, Cheryl (Tom Davis) Smith, Gail (Colin) Manahan and Amy (Marty) Aske; 8 grandchildren Erin and Patrick Wolfkiel, Alanna Davis, Lauren and Colin Manahan, and Ryan, Jacob and Emma Aske; a sister Elaine Beach; and two special friends Tina Krieger and Nick Perdue; many cousins and nieces and nephews; and his special 4 legged companion Fiona.Bob is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lee and Richard Smith.A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 31 from 5-7pm at Conley Funeral Home, 116 w. Pierce, Elburn, IL. A funeral mass to celebrate Bob’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Rd, Geneva, IL.In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Bob’s name to benefit the St. Peter’s Food Pantry.
