Woodrow Caraker Harding was born into the loving arms of his parents Adam and Christy on October 4, 2005. Though his time was to be too brief, his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and will always be remembered for the gift of love and courage he so willingly gave, and for the ability to make a home in the hearts of everyone who held him. Woodrow, named for his grandfather, was born with Type I Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a degenerative disease that took away his strength but never the strength of his spirit. He battled for every hour of every day he was given, but the toll on his earthly body became too much to bear. On December 15, 2005, surrounded by the love, and cradled in the arms, of his family, he heard the gentle voice of his heavenly Father calling him "home" for Christmas. A visitation to celebrate his life will be held at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL 60119, from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2005. Conley "Kid Care" support and creative activities will be available in the family center on the lower level of the funeral home. Private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be mailed to the Woodrow Harding Fund in care of P.O. Box 66, Elburn, IL 60119. Tributes and condolences may be mailed to the same address or e-mailed to the family through Woodrow’s obituary at www.conleycare.com.
