CANDY MILLER, age 51, of Elburn, formerly of Strawn, IL, passed away suddenly following complications from her battle with cancer on Wednesday, October 19, 2011. BORN: She was born September 24, 1960 in Gibson City, IL, the daughter of Thomas and Aldine (Gingerich) Lynch. EARLY YEARS:Candy grew up in Strawn, IL and attended local schools. Following her graduation in 1978 from Forrest Strawn Wing High School, Candy found work locally as a C.N.A.MARRIAGE: Candy was blessed with a son "Tommy" in 1987. She moved to Elburn shortly after where she raised her son, as well as other neighborhood children, as a babysitter for many years. Later she shared her heart, love and life with Tom Miller whom she met through mutual friends. They made their love "official" in 2006 when they were united in marriage on November 7th. OCCUPATION / WORK HISTORY:Candy worked in the school cafeteria for a time before finding a home at Elburn Lions Park as a grounds keeper. Never a stranger to hard work, Candy later worked for the Elburn Public Works Department taking care of her community and its needs for several years. LIFE NOTES: Candy loved to garden bringing the beauty of Mother Nature to life with a rainbow of flowers. When she wasn’t in the garden, she loved to read anything she could get her hands on. Candy loved her family, friends and enjoyed life. She tried to make each day count and left thousands of memories for her friends and family to cherish. SURVIVORS: She is survived by her husband Tom, One son Tommy (Danielle Allen) McCartney, Eight siblings:Tom (Terry) Lynch, Jill (John) Menacher, Jane (Dan) Lange,Francie Lynch, John (Kaye) Lynch, Carmen Lynch, Toni (Kevin) Huette and Michael (Kendra) Lynch;Several nieces, nephews and cousins. PRECEDED:She is preceded in death by her parents. VISITATION / FUNERAL Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m., Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held Monday, October 24, 2011, also at the funeral home, at 11 a.m. cremation at a later Private family interment will follow date. MEMORIAL In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name to benefit The Town and Country Library in Elburn.
