CAROLYN SUE HASTINGS, age 66, of Maple Park, formerly of Villa Park, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 30, 2010. BORN: She was born April 4, 1944 the daughter of George and Lorraine (Iser) Bodo in Lombard, IL.EARLY YEARS:Carolyn grew up in Lombard and attended local schools. She graduated in 1962 from Glenbard East High School. MARRIAGE: Fate intervened at a Dog N’ Suds in Lombard when Carolyn met Don Hastings. Something special was born in that moment, something that grew into a love that lasted 47 years. They were united in marriage at the First Church of Lombard on November 16, 1963. RESIDENTIAL HISTORY: They began their new life together in an apartment in Lombard for a time before moving to Glen Ellyn. A few years later they moved again to a home in Villa Park where they spent the next 20 years making memories and raising a family of three children. In August of 1994 the family moved once more to their present home in Maple Park. LIFE NOTES: Carolyn dedicated her life to her family and to making their house a home. She was known for warm smiles that she gave freely to all she met and no one left a stranger. When it came to her home, there was a place for everything and everything had its place. Carolyn also loved to take care of the outside of her home planting flowers every season and wasn’t afraid of a little dirt. She decorated inside and out with antique tools, milk cans bake ware and utensils that she found over the years. Every color was chosen with care and had a special eye for floral arrangements. It was her infectious laugh that brought you in and her caring heart made sure you stayed. Her legacy was built on family, love and laughter and will be passed on to the next generations. SURVIVORS: She now leaves her loving husband Don;Three children:Scot Hastings of Streamwood, IL,Steven (Laura) Hastings of Jacksonville, NC and Deborah Hastings of St. Charles, IL;Four Grandchildren:Alex,Bailey,Ryan and Zachary;One sister, three nieces and a family of friends. PRECEDED:She is preceded in death by her parents. VISITATION / FUNERAL Visitation will be from 12-4:30 PM, with a funeral service to follow at 5 p.m., Sunday, December 5, 2010, at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL 60119. Private family burial will follow cremation at a later date. MEMORIAL A memorial has been established in her name. Checks may be made to the "Carolyn Hastings Memorial" and mailed in care of P.O.
