Robert “Bobby” Morris, age 60, passed away Monday, June 13, 2016, after a fierce battle with cancer. His body was broken, but never his spirit and Bobby now lives free of his earthly chains in Heaven.
He was born February 5, 1956, in Chicago, IL, the son of Charles and Angeline (Sarley) Morris.
Bobby spent most of his growing up years in the Elburn and Maple Park areas and attended local schools. He graduated from Kaneland High School with the class of 1974.
He was united in marriage Dianne Gregonis and they welcomed home a son Charlie. Bobby and Dianne eventually travelled down different paths, but music was always a constant in his life.
Bobby lived in various places over the years but for many years, and most recently, he lived in Belvidere, but his heart was always in Nashville.
Bobby fell in love with music when he was only a teenager, but drove truck for Precision Service in Batavia to help pay the bills. He had an eye for electronics and a love for entertainment which could be plainly seen by the array of equipment not only in his home, but also those he installed in homes, cars and trucks as a side business.
He was a member of both the Belvidere American Legion and VFW, and in early years Bobby was a member of several Loyal Order of the Moose Lodges. .
Bobby was a talented musician who learned to play by ear and followed the music where ever it took him. Country music spoke to him and through his fingers on the piano and pedal steel guitar. He was a member of many bands and well known in local circles. He helped to keep thousands of folks entertained in every venue you can think up. If they wanted music played, Bobby was there. He also had a hand in bar management, overseeing the day to day operations as well as the entertainment (whether he was on the bill or not) of several local bars. He was a proud Green Bay Packer fan, much to the chagrin of his friends and family, as well as NASCAR, but his favorite automobile was a Lincoln Town Car. His life was like meandering stream, taking what life gave him, both good and bad, but always moving forward and never knowing what was around the bend. Finally at rest, Bobby can make the kind of music that will last for an eternity.
He is survived by his son Charlie (Jennifer) Morris; three siblings: Chet Morris, Roseanne Morris and Cheryl Morris; many nieces, nephews and a close circle of friends who will cherish echoing last notes of Bobby’s life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Angeline Morris; One sister Dorothy Morris and a brother Charles Morris.
